A commercial boiler provides heat to your building. The type of boiler you purchase as well as how well the one you currently own will determine how efficient it is and how well it works. It also will determine the level of comfort you and your employees as well as customers enjoy. The importance of having the right boiler and the right boiler service for your building can’t be overstated.

What is a Commercial Boiler?

Boilers are a pressurized system that uses several types of fuel, typically either electricity or combustible fuel such as gas to heat water that then heats your building. It is the electric coils or burners inside the boiler that creates heat that is then transferred to water in the system by the heat exchanger.

This will create either steam or hot water depending on the boiler type. Pipes are used to circulate this steam or hot water throughout your industrial or commercial building or factory.

Most often, natural gas is used as fuel for boilers. This is especially true in the northern part of the United States as it is less expensive than electricity.

There are five main parts of a boiler. They include the:

  • Heat exchanger
  • Burner
  • Exhaust stack
  • Controls
  • Combustion chamber

Maintenance and boiler service are both important as boilers are touchy systems that are under high pressure and contain extremely hot water. When not in peak working performance they are a safety risk. In addition, boilers can leak carbon monoxide if they are not working properly.

At PTS Contracting we provide both gas boiler services and oil boiler services as well as installation and new boiler units.

In addition, having the right sized boiler for your facility or building is important as well. If the unit is too small, it will have to work overtime to keep your space at a comfortable temperature. If it is too large, you may be spending money unnecessarily on your monthly utility bills.

At PTS Contracting we have decades of experience in commercial boilers. We can help you determine the right type and size of boiler for your specific needs. We also offer scheduled maintenance and if you should need it we do have a 24-hour emergency service as well.
